March 2, 2022Leave a comment

Moving, once again The past months have certainly not been boring for me. After four years in Berlin, I felt like it was time to move on. So a period of reading lots of job adds, replying to some, and doing video-interviews followed. Thankfully it did not take too long before an opportunity came along: … Continue reading Roast of sweet potato, chickpeas and chicken

Horses and pasta Walking around in the supermarket trying to find nice vegetables wasn't the easiest in the small town. But I did need to pick something now that I had finally made it in time to a supermarket. I was traveling through Iceland, enjoying the incredible nature. Every day there were again new, amazing … Continue reading Pasta with Zucchini

Driving through food country It was a dark blue Lancia Ypsilon that was waiting for me. To be honest, I was a tiny bit nervous. After all I had not driven a car in about a year and I had never driven in Italy. But what is life without a bit of risk (especially if … Continue reading Parmesan cheese, pumpkin and balsamic vinegar

Plans Clearly, things are not always going to plan. Originally the plan was to go to Iceland in May, a country I have wanted to go to for a long time. But of course, Corona came along, flights were canceled and the trip postponed to autumn. So what to do with this sudden week of … Continue reading Spinach and Feta Stuffed Flatbread

In the centre of Canada The sky seems to be endless. And underneath the blue sky, which is broken up by ribbons of clouds, the wheat and canola fields are stretching out as far as the eye can see, seemingly going on till infinity. This is the centre of Canada. I am on my way from … Continue reading Watermelon salad

Time flies When I settle down somewhere and start working, it seems like the time suddenly passes by very fast. The past two months in the working rhythm in Montréal have honestly flown by. It seems to be a contrast to the two months before, traveling around Canada without a fixed schedule and having so … Continue reading Golden beet and carrot salad

The Maritimes: lighthouses, people, and one-pan meals Canada is not just a large country, it is massive. Of course, I am aware that it is the second largest country in the world. Still, every time the distances are a surprise again. Going down from Québec to The Maritimes took a good part of a day. … Continue reading Meatballs with egg, artichokes and tomato

Snowstorms After having arrived in Toronto I continued my travels through Canada via Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. But then I decided it was time to try to go a bit off the standard big-city tour. As much as I like cities, I did feel like the nature and the smaller towns and villages in … Continue reading Vegetarian quesadillas

Traveling and Toronto After two years of working in a full time job and living in an - in my opinion very nice - apartment, I felt the time had come to quit all of it and go traveling again. So, having canceled all the contracts and stored some boxes in a storage space in … Continue reading Spicy bacon and tomato pasta

Reading in a travel story about Malta made me miss that place and summer weather! Beautiful little country with such a mixed history of influence of Romans, Moors, British and many others.
One of my goals of 2023: visiting my sister and her family in Australia.
Yesterday was my one year anniversary in Vienna, and today of course the last day of 2022. It's certainly been a very full, crazy and amazing year! Looking forward to making 2023 just as great.
Frohe Weihnachten!
Whatever the time of year, it's always a good time for snacks. Like this simple zucchini and tahini dip.
It starts to feel like winter, but the last time I really saw snow was on mount Osorno, a picture perfect volcano in the south of Chile. Last time it erupted was some 150 years ago but now it looks like the perfect calm and majestic mountain.
